Recruits from Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, meet each other in the center of the ring before battling during Pugil Sticks I at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 18. Recruits were matched with opponents of the same weight to ensure a fair match. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Mike Company is scheduled to graduate March 31.
