Theserecords begin in the year of the incorpo-ration of the town, 1693, and extend to1726. The charter of incorporation, onparchment, elegantly written, and withall the legal redundancies usual in suchdocuments, by singular good fortune hasnever been lost or stolen. It is all whole and legible, thoughfaded and yellow, the proper tokens of its authenticity; onlywanting in its royal seal, which some too fond lover of an-tiquities has abstracted. And now, in the current year, 1884, anantique silver seal,* found among the relics of the Langdonfamily, has been restored to the town. With these documents and the references to be found in theNew Hampshire Provincial Papers, together with local tradi-tions, the memories of old people, and the general history of thesettlement of New Hampshire, it is
