I love this vantage point overlooking Urquhart Castle and Bay on Loch Ness, particularly on days when the weather isn't "good" as it becomes increasingly atmospheric. Today the clouds were down obscurring much of the loch with the castle still fairly clear which I felt added a little mystery to the scene. To get the best composition of the castle from this distance I like to use a long lens, in this instance a 400mm on a crop sensor to give the equivalent in 35mm terms of a 600mm lens. The narrow field of view this lens offers allows me to shoot through some fairly narrow gaps between the trees, it is easier in the winter when there are no leaves - for this shot I had to stand and balance ontop of the Armco barrier!
