Gastrotrich. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a Chaetonotus sp. gastrotrich. Gastrotrichs are microscopic, worm-like animals found in both freshwater and marine habitats. Chartonotus is the largest of the freshwater gastrotrichs. The body is covered by a scale-like cuticle (green). The cilia (brown) on its underside are used for locomotion.
