The church of St Mary the Virgin, St Mary in the Marsh, Romney Marsh, Kent. E Nisbet, the children's author, is buried and commemorated there. She has a wooden post and rail grave marker in the church, from an original made by her second husband and a commemorative tablet inside the building. She is probably best remembered for her book "The Railway Children." The church dates from the first half of the 12th century with an aisle added in the 13th. It is considered to be one of the most attractive of the Romney Marsh churches.
