Teachers from the NEU across the country are striking today over fair pay, which due to the cost of living crisis and inflation is another reason why they are seeing a real terms fall in income being further exacerbated. In addition, the University and College Union will also be striking as over 70,000 staff at 150 universities withdraw their labour due to unacceptable pay, pensions and working conditions. Meanwhile the PCS members will also be striking over low pay, pensions and plans to cut jobs. The strikes are being backed by the TUC. The NEU has estimated that over 100,000 teachers have taken part in what is the largest day or co-ordinated strikes in a decade.
