Church of Saint Mary (Santa Maria), Óbidos, Portugal. The Roman Catholic Church as seen from Santa Maria Square on Rua Direita Street at the center of the small medieval village 100km north of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon on the Atlantic Coast. The 12th century Parish Church of Óbidos has been built and rebuilt over the centuries reflecting styles of many historic periods.

The site of the church was originally a Visigoth temple, then a Mosque during the Muslim period and then built during the 12th century as the Parish Church of Óbidos. The small village has been inhabited since 308 BC, is considered to be one of the most well preserved classic walled settlements in Portugal with a permanent population of 3,000, which includes the surrounding area. Óbidos is 100km north of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, on the Atlantic Coast.
