The gift exchange was part of a student-driven initiative at Nolan Richardson Middle School as part of the school's Student to Student Program which helps support incoming students as well as the Partners In Education Program at Fort Bliss which allows soldiers to volunteer with local schools improving quality

The Warrior Transition Battalion provides command and control, primary medical management, risk mitigation and comprehensive transition planning which facilitates the medical, social and professional rehabilitation of Soldiers back to the force or as productive veterans.
