An important distinction, forinstance, often exists in the manner in which the material is pieces of yarn be taken from old rugs and carefully examined, asthey are untwisted, the simpler, cruder methods of spinning practisedin former days are often apparent. In some of the oldest fabricsthat remain the wool was very loosely spun. Irregularities in thesize of yarn are also more noticeable in old than in modern pieces.
