Tony Rolt and Freddie Dixon (in scruffy suit!) with an ERA in the paddock at Donington Park 10th June 1939 for the Nuffield trophy race.

The race track at Donington Park was the first genuine road racing track in England, situated near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, though the original track's 'Melbourne Loop, was across the border in Derbyshire. The track ran up to the outbreak of WWII, when it was commissioned by the Ministry of Defence, It effectively lay dormant until purchased by Bernard (Tom) Wheatcroft and re-opened May 28th 1977, with the frst car meeting run by the Nottingham Sports Car Club. T W (Tom) Green was a press photographer with the Nottingham Guardian, and some of the photographs in the collection were on glass slides.
