Add one-fourth a cup of milk to a cupof thick cream, and beat until stiff; addthree tablespoonfuls of powdered sugar,and, if desired, half a teaspoonful ofvanilla; and, when well mixed, use as agarnish for the top of the cake. White Cake Beat half a cup and two tablespoon-fuls of butter to a cream; gradually. Boiled Frosting for White Cake Melt one cup and a half of sugar inhalf a cup of boiling water; wash downthe inside of the saucepan to removegrains of sugar, cover and let boil rap-idly three minutes; remove the coverand let boil to 238° F.
