A pair of German mitten gauntlets,1st half of 17th century,incorporating older parts. Smooth,four articulated metacarpal lames with immobile upper thumb defence with three overlapping lames attached. Slightly ridged,pointed cuffs with turned edges. Blackened. Length of each cm. Probably made in the early 17th century from old arsenal stock dating from the 15th century and reused with new cuffs.
