Divine healing. Artwork deriding the ability of radium to heal the sick compared to the ability of Jesus Christ to do so. Rays of love fan out from Jesus' heart to inspire people to help others. A nurse comforts a wounded soldier at bottom right. A lower left nuns look after orphaned children. At lower centre a soldier comforts a dying colleague. At far right a man gives money to a beggar. At left a missionary preaches to tribal people. After its discovery by Pierre & Marie Curie in 1898, radium was widely used for the supposed healing power of its emissions of radiation.
