June 12, 2024: Cruise ship Goddess of the Night, chartered to house more than 2,000 security agents during G7 summit in Brindisi, Italy, is detained by Italian justice due to Carabinieri union allegations about hygiene & accommodation problems on board the 20-year-old vessel. Police discontent grew as hundreds were transferred to a 40-year-old ferry, GNV Azzurra, far less comfortable. Known as Costa Magica, she was sold to Greek holding Seajets in 2023.
