A splendid silver-mounted sabre, for an artillery general, Great Britain, circa 1800 Lightly curved, single-edged blade with fullers on both sides. The upper two thirds bear rich decorative etching with vestiges of gilding against a blued background. On the obverse side a crowned cipher "GR" above a Britannia and the monogram "LM", on the reverse martial trophies and a British coat of arms with a motto above the monogram "GL".
