Rival pro- and anti-Scottish independence campaigners pictured holding posters during an event in Perth attended by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond MSP. Salmond was campaigning for a pro-independence vote in a referendum to establish whether Scotland would remain part of the United Kingdom. On the 18th of September 2014, the people of Scotland voted in a referendum to decide whether the country's union with England should continue or Scotland should become an independent nation once again and leave the United Kingdom.
