The image shows Lt. Duff and American Engineers repairing the Grandpre bridge in France during World War One. The bridge had been destroyed three times by German forces. The work was highly dangerous as the bridge was regularly shelled by Co. B, 303d Engineers. This photograph was released by the Censor on December 25, 1918.
