A Western Gull looks out from a rock at the edge of the Pacific Ocean at Morro Bay along the central coast of California, USA.

An adult Western Gull (Larus occidentalis) looks out from a rock at the edge of the Pacific Ocean at Morro Bay along the central coast of California, USA. This large seabird is the only gull nesting in all seasons along most of the Pacific Coast from Washington state to Baja California. The rock it stands on has been stained white by excrement from gulls and other seabirds who rest there.
