Foot muscles. Computer artwork of an oblique view from below and behind of some of the muscles and tendons (red and white) of the sole of the foot. The four muscles and tendons on the four smaller toes are the lumbrical muscles, which are attached to the flexor digitorum longus muscle of the calf (upper left, semi-transparent at right). Similarly, the tendon on the big toe (only shown on the left foot) originates from the flexor hallucis longus muscle in the calf. This muscle is not shown on the right foot and leg (right). The view of the left foot and ankle includes some of the ligaments (white) joining the bones.
