The grave of June Anne Devaney. Blackburn Cemetery. Whalley New Road, Blackburn, Lancashire. June Anne Devaney was taken from her bed at Queens park Hospital, Blackburn and was murdered, her body being found in the grounds of the hospital. The bottle which was used to kill her had fingerprints on it. This led to every male in the town over 16 to be finger printed, eventually leading the arrest and conviction of Peter Griffiths who was subsequently, hung for the murder. This was the first time mass fingerprinting has been used to detect a murderer.
