Lato was a Dorian city state located built in a defensible position overlooking Mirabello Bay between two peaks at the north coast in the east of Crete. Lato war ein dorischer Stadtstaat der in einer gut zu verteidigenden Lage auf einem Sattel zwischen zwei Gipfeln hoch über der Nordküste im Osten Kretas im fünften Jahrhundert vor Christus erbaut wurde.
