Its quite a different thing to hold that gain over aperiod of years. Thats the real test! And thats what they did in Davenport—made the gain andheld it! In June, 1915, the Tri-City Railways installed ECONOMYMETERS on their cars. A reduction in power consumptionwas apparent at once. In November, 1917, the company had not only held thesaving, but materially increased it. The accompanying chart, taken from the Electric RailwayJournal of Dec. 15th, shows the downward trend of the energyconsumption curve, notwithstanding an increase in schedulespeed.
