CAKB.—It is absolutely essential to themaking of good cake that the materials shouldbe good; the flour must be white and dry, andcarefully sifted before using; the sugar whiteand free from lumps ; the eggs above suspicion ;the butter sweet and fresh; and the milk wholeor unskimmed.
