QUAYLE, one of Tar-rant countys leading men, wasborn in Ontario county, New York,July 15, 1830, fourth son of Charles andJane (King) Ouayle. Charles Ouayle and his wife were nativesof the Isle of Man, where they lived untilafter two of their children were born, andwhence, about 1829, the\- emigrated toAmerica, and settled in Ontario York. They lived on a farm in thatcountv until the time of death. He wasborn in i 800 and died in i 848, and she wasborn in 1796 and died in 1837. They hadseven children, four of whom are now liv-ing,—one in Missouri, two in New York,andone in ^ HISTORY OF TEXAS. 543 The subject of our sketch spent the firsttwenty-seven years of his life in his nativeState. His ambitious spirit then led him tosee something of the wild West. He wasengaged by the Louisiana & HontonpeckCompany to go to Mexico and transact somebusiness, and was detained there about tenmonths. On his return he made a visit toan older brother in , expecting to goback to New York in a short time, but, ashe expresses it, he has not got his visit outyet. Thus he has been a resident of Texassince 1857. Buying some land near GrapeVine, Tarrant county, he made his home onit until the outbreak of the civil war.
