Toru Hashimoto, mayor of Osaka and deputy leader of Japanese political party ‘Nippon Ishin no Kai’ (Japan Restoration Party).

Toru Hashimoto – mayor of Osaka and deputy leader of Japanese political party ‘Nippon Ishin no Kai’ (Japan Restoration Party) – speaks to a crowd in central Osaka as he attempts to rally support ahead of the nation’s general election on December 16, 2012. Hashimoto last month joined forces with Shintaro Ishihara, who quit his post as governor of Tokyo in October 2012 to form political party ‘Taiyo no To’ (The Sunshine Party), creating a third force in Japanese politics. Ishihara now leads Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japan Restoration Party). The party could become a key player in the coalition government that is likely to form following the December 16 election.
