New Zealand. An unheralded feature of the No- vember club meeting was the address of Charles Henry Fox. Mr. Fox has im- proved his pillow basket since the To- ronto meeting by adding a lid of wire netting. Aided by this lid, Mr. Fox was able to turn the pillow basket up- side down without dropping a single flower on the carpet. Then he told an F. T. D. story. Here it is: "A cus- tomer was in the habit of ordering flow- ers sent by wire to a lady who was traveling. A few days before St. Val- entine's day he came in with the re- mark, 'Fox, I have you stumped this time. I want some flowers sent to my friend. She is in New Zealand.' It was a liberal order, $25 worth. I sparred for time to find ways and means. At 3 o'clock that day I accepted the order. A couple of months later my customer dropped in to know what I had sent. He said his friend had been deluged with flowers. Spoke of a. yoke and a couple of baskets. Probably tlie order was filled with the ai<l of a sickle in the ; Vaiious Notes. The record sale of the week, 125 chrysanthemums at $1 each, was made by Martin J. Gannon. The flowers, grown for exhibition, were white and yellow Turner and a bronze.
