Yellow-rumped Warbler (Setophaga coronata auduboni), winter plumage Sacramento County California USA

The "Audubon's" form of the Yellow-rumped Warbler (Setophaga cognate auduboni) is the prevalent form in the western portion of North America. This species is one of the few wood warblers (family Parulidae) that winters north of Mexico. It can do this because unlike other wood warblers it can eat berries where other wood warblers primarily eat insects.
