1st Lt. James Broadwell a platoon leader from Chosin Company, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, along with a Soldier from the 1st Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, report unit statuses to one another during an urban live fire range during Exercise Rising Thunder 18, at Yakima Training Center, Washington, Sept. 7. This 15-day exercise gives both military forces an opportunity to help strengthen allied partnerships, and train together as a unified team.
