Each received a litter from the IND - ‘Immigration and Naturalization Service' stating that their case-files will be reassessed. Those who do not meet true refugee status will be deported back to their homeland as the IND considers the Sudan to be a safe country for returning refugees. Credit: Charles M Vella/Alamy Live News
Koekamp, The Hague, The Netherlands. Tuesday 14th July, 2020. More than 100 Sudanese live in The Netherlands with refugee status. Each received a litter from the IND - ‘Immigration and Naturalization Service’ stating that their case-files will be reassessed. Those who do not meet true refugee status will be deported back to their homeland as the IND considers the Sudan to be a safe country for returning refugees. The refugees themselves consider a return will only subject them to: torture, imprisonment, persecution and death; as they will be returned to war-affected areas. Today’s protest was also to show solidarity with the people of Nirtity, on the Marah mountain west of Sudan -who were tortured and executed this very week. © Charles M Vella/Alamy Live News
