Moonlit clouds over VLT telescopes, full-dome image. Clouds in moonlight, with the Milky Way at upper centre, over the auxiliary telescopes (dome-shaped) and Antu (centre right), one of the main telescopes, all part of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile's Atacama Desert. Operated by the ESO (European Southern Observatory), the VLT interferometer, one of the most powerful telescopes in the world, is located on Cerro Paranal at an altitude of 2600 metres.
