Gullies on Mars, computer-enhanced satellite image. These deep gullies are on a crater wall in the Newton Basin, an area of the Terra Sirenum region in Mars's southern hemisphere. They are thought to show that water had once flowed on the now arid planet surface. Image taken by High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft on 3rd October 2006.
