In Warsaw, Poland, tens of thousands of people took part in a march organized by the Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD), in opposition to the ruling party, the Law and Justice Party (PiS). They were met by counter-demonstrators, who support the current government. Martial Law was imposed by the Military Council for National Salvation (WRON) lead by, then, Prime Minister General Wojciech Jaruzelski. Martial Law was lifted on July 22, 1983.
