Three amendments to the constitution,which at the meeting at Calgary on Junesecond became club law, were referred to. (1) charging the qualification foractive membership from an arbitrary al-titude of 10,000 feet above sea level toan ascent of a truly alpine, glacier-hungpeak rising at least 2500 feet above thetimber line of its region. (2) providing for an Executive Secre-tary. The President referred to the ob-jects and work of the Club as outlined bythe constitution, and made it very clear. that a permanent salaried Executive Sec-retary was an absolute necessity. Hestated that Mr. S. H. Mitchell had ex-pressed his willingness to undertake thework, and referred to the qualificationsthat fitted him for such an office. providing that any applicant forelection who receives five adverse votes will not be accepted. Mr. Wheeler then dealt with proposedplans for the erection of a permanentClub House at Banff. A grant of threeand a half acres of land at Banff has beenmade by the Dominion Government forthe purpose. The President also dealt with the ques- ALPINE CLUB OF CANADA tion of incorporation which would becomea necessity for the issuing of debenturesin connection with the Club House. In concluding his address, the Presi-dent referred to some remarkable achieve-ments of the past year in mountaineeringin the Canadian Rockies, viz., the at-tempt ot Pro-fessor Cole-m a n andparty toclimb M t .Robson, in-vo1v i n g ajourney o fover 18 0miles fromthe base ofsup
