The Palace of Fine Arts is the most important monument in the country dedicated to the best of fine arts and was pronounced artistic monument by UNESCO in 1987. The building houses several rooms and exhibitions of works of art. Stands out among all the Great Hall which has a capacity of 1,900 spectators and a proscenium 24 feet in length. In this room are exhibited among others: Maria Callas, Zubin Mehta, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Joaquín Cortés and Rudolf Nureyev. It is home to two museums: the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Architecture.
