A view of the interior of the machinery in a bleach Mill in Ulster, Northern Ireland in which flax is washed, rubbed and wrung out before beetling. The latter is a textile finishing method for cotton or linen based fabrics, in which hammers repeatedly fall on the subjected fabric imparting a lustrous and absorbent effect that was ideal for linen. Created in 1792 by William Hincks for Lord Bangor.
