During the offensive, which lasted for nearly a year, the Syrian government took control of large areas in northern Syria. The Syrian government and Russian forces have continued to attack camps and training centres run by the opposition, and 78 fighters from the Al-Sham Legion were killed as a result of Russian airstrikes targeting a training camp near Kafr Takharim on 26 October 2020
