Mums are showing signs of diminution. Roses have not reached their stride as yet; while there are plenty for the pres- ent demand, when mums arc out of the way there may be a shortage. However, the growers are hurrying the rose erop as much as possible and, if there is a suf- ficient miscellaneous stock, the market should go along smoothly. The heavy demand in roses is for short-stemmed stock, indicating that there is a quite large funeral business being done. Long- stemmed roses are a little draggj-; this is owing to mums still being plentiful. Carnations are not in large supply, but. as with roses, there are enough for pres- ent requirements. There is going to be a fine supply of all the best varieties of carnations this winter. Stevia has made its appearance and, as it works in well for funeral work, it sells well. B
