The boiler equipment consists of eight 400-horsepowerStirling water-tube boilers. Four of these boilers, oppositethe second turbine, are equipped with Foster superheaters for100 degrees F. superheat. These superheaters are located inthe second flame-pass and thus are not exposed to the gasesat the initial temperature. The boilers and superheaters are designed for 200 poundsworking pressure; the actual working pressure is 180 pounds. i ffifflffllEE : - - : fi/TVKC £X7r/V510H -. Peoria Power Station. The ashes are raked fromthe ash pits to the fine coal and ash cars. A 75-ton ash-storage pit is provided into which the carsloaded with ashes are dumped. The ashes are allowed toaccumulate in this pit until such time as is most desirablefor removing them from the station. The ashes are trans-ferred from the 75-ton ash pit to the interurban coal cars bythe grab-bucket crane. A 35-ton fine-coal storage pit is provided into which thecars loaded with fine coal are dumped. Fine coal is allowedto collect in this pit until such time as is most desirable fortransferring it with the grab-bucket crane to the bunkersover the boilers. One of the illustrations shows the construction of thecars used for handling the fine coal and ashes. These carswere designed esp
