Lateral flow test device reader. Lateral flow test devices are test kits designed to be used to test a sample for the presence of a specific chemical or substance. Examples of such tests include pregnancy tests, though many other tests using the same technique are also available. The underlying principle is an immunoassay analysis, where the sample moves along the test substrate by capillary action. When the sample reaches points on the substrate impregnated with antibodies or antigens, coloured lines are formed indicating the result. Here, the amounts of test substance present will be measured by the reader.
