Notwithstanding every care in this transfer, the delicate texture was very apt tobe seriously injured, so as to cause corresponding injuries in every subsequent operation,and in the finished yarn. Messrs. Cocker and Higgins, of Salford, had the singularmerit, as I have said, of superseding that beautiful but defective mechanism, which hadheld a prominent place in all cotton mills from almost the infancy of the factory system,by the following apparatus.
