Counterbalance weight for the sluice gates above Bonnington Hydro Power Station New Lanark, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK
There is an artificial weir across the Clyde at this point helping to ensure a head of water for the power station. The photo was taken from the bridge over the weir, and shows the counterbalance weights for the sluice gates at the weir. Should the power station need to shut down for repair of maintenance the sluice gates are opened allowing the flow to go down the Falls of Clyde. The text on the weight is the manufacturer's plate and reads : - Ransomes and Napier Ltd Ipswich 1925 England. See also F0WP0N, F0WP0T, F0WP0W
