The Augusta Railway & Electric Co., of Augusta, Ga., has apleasing custom of arranging a public parade of its rolling stockon each anniversary of the opening of its street railway whichoccurred June 16, i8go. The procession on the i6th of last month,with various special cars, sweepers, etc., of the company, is thus de-scribed in a local paper: The procession was headed with an old mule car and wound upwith a magnificent double trucker, certainly a great demonstrationof advancement, but just as great was the display of another fea-ture made on four flat cars about midway of the procession. Thisdisplay was no less than the great difference in the style and weight. bkach, lake manawa. Lake Manawa is eight miles from Omaha and four from CouncilBluffs, on the Iowa side of the Missouri River. It has a shoreline of nine miles, and an area of nearly 700 acres. Cottage Groveand Manhattan Beach, which are two of the most attractive por-tions of the lake shore, have been improved with dancing pavil-ions, summer theatres and club houses with the usual comple-ment of golf links, tennis courts, picnic shelters, etc. The peopleof Omaha and Council Bluffs take advantage of the excellenttransportation facilities afforded by the railway company to visitthese resorts daily, during summer weather, the ride itself beingan agreeable excursion. Camping parties from a distance alsqavail themselves of the lake; no charge is made for space for used for the tracks now and in 1890. The latter is a light irontrack that answered every purpose in the days of past years, andwhat could be used in the times of the first introduction of thelight moto
