Ware River Bridge, Hardwick, Massachusetts

The Quabbin Reservoir was created during the 1930's and 40's and is the main source of fresh drinking water for approximately two million citizens of eastern Massachusetts. The creation of the Reservoir involved the taking of four towns by imminent domain and the departure of several thousand residents from the Swift River Valley.
