If political affairs would turn for the better—this land could easily get on itsfeet in a few months. You have little idea of how amusing the current maga-zines with their talk of mandate and internationalism and settlement of ques-tions pertaining to the Near-East seem to us! Nothing is settled and only astrong arm can make it so. MORE GRANDDAUGHTERS OF SMITH In July 1919, thanks to a deal of research work by Jean Spahr 1921 and somecareful scrutiny of our records on our own part, we were able to send out intothe Smith world a list of mothers and daughters who claimed Smith as theircommon Alma Mater; and we accounted for 148 granddaughters of Smith inthis very first survey. It was a goodly number, but we were sure that theminute the list was published we should hear from the people who had beenquite unintentionally and in most cases quite unavoidably left out, and thatthe time would come when we could put out a supplementary list. Now thetime has come, and we here append the names of 13 brand new granddaughterswho have qualified by entering college since the 1919 list, and 14 who belongedall the time.
