The plants are dwarfer and more compact in habit, while the flowers are larger and more numerous and are of the brightest scarlet imaginable, last- ing until late in the fall; 2 ft. Per pkt. 10 cts. COCCINEA SPLENDENS. (Small Flowering Scarlet Sage). Spikes or scarlet flowers; 2 ft. Per pkt. 5 cts. Verbena A well-known favorite, and are valuable for bedding on account of their low trailing habit, and the dazzling brilliancy of their beautiful flowers; blooms freely the first season from seed, and are more healthy and make larger and hardier plants than if grown from cutting; requires a very rich, mellow soil. The seeds sprout very unevenly, and some will not be started at the time others must be removed, hence the soil should be disturbed as little as possible. Half-hardy perennials. HYRRIDA COMPACTA, or TOM THUMB. The plants form almost circular bushes of about two feet in diameter, throwing up in a singu- larly compact manner, on stiff and erect stems, a great number of flowers. The mix- ture contains a great number of flowers. The mixture contains a great variety of color. Per pkt. 10 cts. MAMMOTH, or LARGE FLOWERING. Flow- ers of this Mammoth Variety, when well grown, are frequently larger than a silver quarter.
