Staunton Harold Reservoir was created in 1964 to provide the people of Leicester and the East Midlands with drinking water. It covers an area of 209 acres, has a capacity of 1,400 million gallons of water and at its deepest point, is 25 metres deep. The wooden boardwalk links the Round Car Park at Calke village with Calke Park, enabling visitors to enjoy a circular walk.
