Synedra sp. (Gr. synedria, sitting together) diatoms, a group of needle-like cells clustered at one pole, forming star-like arrangements. The chloroplasts of diatoms contain fucoxanthin, which covers the green chloroplasts. That makes the brownish-golden color of all diatoms. Microscopic contrast technique : Darkfield. Magnification 50x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
