Odysseus makes himself known to his son after he finally returned home to Ithaca after the Trojan War.

According to Greek mythology and legend, Telemachus was the son of Penelope and Odysseus, a Trojan War hero whose return trip home took 10 years. In the epic, Odyssey, by the Greek poet Homer, Telemachus asked the gods to him find his father. In this 1907 illustration, Odysseus makes himself known to his son after he finally returned home - but he keeps his presence a secret until he rids his palace of the suitors trying to win his wife's hand in marriage.
