The fruit is the size of a loaf, and itgrows in so much abundance, as that half adozen of these large trees will yield enough for thedemand of a family during the whole year. Thetaste of the fruit is very similar to that of toastedbread. This tree has been successfully cultivatedin the West India islands, and many other coun-tries of hot climates.
