He has never aspired to politi-cal preferment, but his name has been carried anumber of times by his friends to conventions forvarious county offices, and on August 23, 1899, atthe Democratic convention, he was nominated torthe position of county recorder, to which he waselected by a majority of 325, though the county isRepublican by 1,500. He is the first Democratelected to this incumbency since the war, and nofurther comment on his popularity is has capably filled a number of local offices inhis town, and is now a member of the school COMMEMORATIVE BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD. 1185 Mr. Im hum is recognized as one of the leadingbusiness men in his section of the county, and hisreputation is that of an upright and honorable citi-zen.
